Product Comparison Tool

One of the difficulties with shopping online is the uncertainty around how or whether a review is financially incentivized. The stakes are even higher for services that have significant financial commitments or costly long-term contracts. To address this, the team sought to offer improved shopping experiences that empower users in their research and help them feel confident in their purchasing decisions.

The Project

Recognizing the challenges and potential stress associated with learning about and researching personal finance products, Investopedia leveraged its industry expertise to create in-depth educational resources and comprehensive, unbiased reviews across a variety of categories, ranging from credit cards and warranties to loan and insurance products. Given market conditions and high search volume at the time, the Performance Marketing team prioritized the personal loans category for more detailed attention, seeking to further refine and distill the lengthy, in-depth reviews to ease readers’ decision-making processes.

The challenge: How can the product reviews be further improved to support the research and shopping experience? What tools or page enhancements would help users feel confident in their purchasing decision?
